Termited wood

These are select wood shards from local California forests; leftovers almost wholly consumed by termites and other small species making their livings through reclamation.  The activity traces and shapes that remain are unbelievably rich, and I sometimes I think I'm just painting by numbers in pigmenting these ravaged leavings. The termites should be acknowledged as partners in these pieces.
